Pixi By Petra, Book of Beauty Review

Do you ever have those moments when you instantly look at something and think “This will either totally Rock or totally bomb”?  For me it was this palette when it came in one of my subscription boxes last year.    Up to that point I had received a few pixi products here and there – mostly a balm or eye shadow duo that was lovely if a little short lasting.  When this arrived, I was intrigued and wondered if this would be my answer to the one stop shop for an all over face look.   I took it on a weekend trip with me, and while I didn’t hate it, it was a little too subtle for my tastes.  The eye colors while pretty are not intense, the contour is a little too peach the blush a little too subtle but the highlighters are to die for!  Then we entered into the winter months and I put away this springy/summer palette for another day.

Enter today – We’ve been on a heat trend here (and I know it doesn’t hold a candle to the rest of the states) but when it gets 20-30 degrees above your normal high – it’s hot!  So I’ve been looking for a good no makeup, makeup look that I can sport on the weekends when I have to go out of the house but don’t need to go all out.   I pulled out this palette and started fiddling around.

Quite honestly the shadows just don’t stay, I’ve tried base, setting spray, reapplying and nothing really works, I mixed the blush and the contour together to get a nice flush across my cheeks and added a little highlighter to the high points. Add some brows,, mascara and a balm and I was out the door.

Final thoughts – this would be a great palatte for someone that doesn’t wear makeup regularly. It’s enough to give a little color and accent your naturally beauty.  But for someone (like me) that’s a beauty junkie you probably already have enough nudes and neutrals to create an easy no makeup makeup look without the need of a book you’ll only uses a few times.

Have you ever used a Pixi product?
