NYX – The go-to Palette Review

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’re enjoying the start of a new week. I know I am.  Today I wanted to give a quick review of two palettes I picked up a few weeks ago in preparation for a trip. These Go-To palettes have six eye shadows in coordinating colors (small squares) and from left to right a highlighter, blush and bronzer/contour (large rectangle) and run for around $17 at Target or Ulta.

I wanted something that had everything so I could cut down on space in my carryon, and these palattes looked like they were going to meet the mark, there are gorgeous neutrals in the Wanderlust palette (right) and fun pops of color in the Bon Voyage palette (left).  I took a chance and just swatched a few of the eye colors in the Wanderlust palette and the blush, just to make sure it was going to work for my skin tone, and happily packed these in my bag and went on my merry way.  As an impulse I put my Tartlette Tease palette in my bag as we were heading out the door and I’m so happy I did.  These poor palettes just didn’t rise to the challenge – I found the color to be splotchy and dry, the fallout was massive, and there was just no staying power.  Even in the swatches below the color consistancy in both palettes just isn’t great.

I honestly waivered on this review thinking maybe I expected too much from the palette, you were in Disneyland with sweat and water rides and a lot of sunscreen.  I even thought I would give them another go, until I swatched them all out and took pictures for the review today.

Bottom line, they’re just not what I was looking for in an all in one palette. I’ll just have to keep looking, for now my go to when traveling will stay the Tartelette Tease palette, at least for my eyes – it’s very compact and got me through day and nighttime looks without any problems.
