TV might be the Devil!

Happy Tuesday!  I feel as though I haven’t blogged in years.  It’s amazing how fast you can fall out of the habit, first just a few days, then a week, then you start getting nervous about starting back up and the next thing you know it’s been an entire month that flew by.  As I sit here in my living room, I’m thinking about all the things that kept me from getting back in front of a keyboard, and the one that pops into my head over and above the Holiday hustle that runs from the middle of October (Sabrina’s Birthday) through the end of the year – you know when you have to start scheduling time to sit down and breath? – yep thats us without a weekend to spare until the new year is rung in.  But above that?  My TV.  I’m starting to think it might actually be the Devil incarnate, I’m sorry if that sounds blasphemous but if you knew my addictive tendency with my remote you might understand.  It’s not that I’m watching everyday mind you,it’s the binge watching on a day off that’s killing me.  We had a massive storm the other day and while it did manage to drop almost five inches of rain in the Bay Area, it did not kill my power – go figure! so what did I do with a perfect hooky day?  Did I do anything productive? Heck no, I watched almost all of my shows on my DVR, then when I ran out of those, I found two movies on STRAZ to keep me going until bedtime.  My back and hips hurt so badly the next morning I had to take a Motrin just to get moving.

It is a life sucker for me, and I’ve decided that one of my new year goals will be cutting down on TV time, and really that means cutting down on binge watching.  I’m not sure exactly how I’m going to do that yet, I know it’s really easy to say when I’m in the middle of the mid-season break and while I’m happy sitting in my living room typing on my actual computer instead of my iPad – yay me!  It might become more difficult to stay away from that dreaded family room once all my shows return, especially since we just put in new carpeting and bought a brand new couch (that only took 8 weeks to be delivered) – that we love, that we sat in for almost an hour at the showroom to make sure we were spending an ungodly amount of money on was going to be worth it.  I might have to go back to the iPad for a while! 🙂

It’s ok though, I’m going to figure it out! I have big plans for 2015 and sitting in front of the TV is just not going to get me there.

Are you thinking about your goals for 2015 yet?

I think that it’s a good idea to cut back. For me, it’s easy because my kids watch Spongebob and Teen Titans on the family TV. Not exactly what I want to watch with a glass of cabernet!
