Planning Planning Planning

I have to start this post with – I can’t believe I haven’t written a post about my planning obsession by now. I know I’ve touched on it a few times but I actually went back through my old posts just to make sure.

Are you a planner? No no a planner like, putting a dinner party together, or hey the kids have a game on Saturday and you’re the snack parent. Or let’s talk about our retirement and what we might be doing in twenty years. Those things are fine and serve a very important purpose but do not fall into the category I’m referring to.

I’m talking about that one person that you can go to even in a real pinch and they seem to be able to pull something together. The last minute school party, or someone that needs to corral all the snack parents together. The one that starts pulling Thanksgiving recipes together the beginning of November and always seems to have a list with them for something. Now I want to add in here before we get too far, that sometimes these people while awesome at planning may not be the best for follow through, that’s why they plan πŸ™‚

And yes if there was a picture in the dictionary under obsessive planner, it would be of me. I can’t help it, I spent my 20’s known for being flaky at best, and always a day late and a dollar short when it came to anything important. As I got farther into my job and started attending PTA or Girl Scout meetings I realized I needed to get my crap together or I was going to be in serious trouble. As time has gone on I have found it really does help to have some sort of plan in place to make sure things get done. I will be the first to admit, it does border on the obsessive, If you’ve read my Disneyland post you might have gathered that tidbit, but I offer you the thought of the alternative. What would I be like without? Did you read any posts on my blog the last few weeks? No? There you go! No plan in place. Here’s a small glimpse into my disturbed but semi organized mind.

yes my photos are arranged by thought, I have a new one starting soon called “Wishlist” I seem to have a lot of pics of things I want to get

Email with a million folders? check – at work I have them broken down by quarter for ease of finding things

Capsule wardrobe planning? Check – I don’t buy a lot of apps but this one has been a Godsend

List-making and tracking heaven? Check – evernote is my go to for everything!

Are you a planner?

  1. Hey, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Opera, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!

  2. Wonderful site you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part of community where I can get opinions from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!

  3. A lot of what you assert is astonishingly appropriate and that makes me wonder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this with this light before. This article truly did switch the light on for me as far as this specific subject matter goes. However there is one position I am not really too cozy with so whilst I try to reconcile that with the core idea of your point, let me observe what the rest of your readers have to say.Nicely done.

  4. I’m really loving the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues? A handful of my blog visitors have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any tips to help fix this issue?

    • Thank you, it’s a free one offered by WordPress (Ever After) I’m hearing there may be a few issues with running over, and I’ve noticed I have some transitional issues from my ipdad to Mac but, I honestly don’t know enough to know what the problem is or how to fix it. Sorry

  5. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks

  6. The very heart of your writing whilst sounding agreeable originally, did not settle perfectly with me after some time. Someplace throughout the paragraphs you managed to make me a believer but only for a while. I nevertheless have got a problem with your leaps in assumptions and one would do nicely to fill in those breaks. In the event you actually can accomplish that, I will undoubtedly be impressed.

  7. Have you ever considered publishing an ebook or guest authoring on other sites? I have a blog based upon on the same ideas you discuss and would really like to have you share some stories/information. I know my subscribers would enjoy your work. If you are even remotely interested, feel free to send me an e mail.

  8. With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright violation? My site has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any techniques to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

    • Sorry no, I would hope if an individual was using my content they would credit back to me, but in this day in age I’m not sure there are many individuals that would think of it. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

  9. First of all I would like to say awesome blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Cheers!|掲瀺板}

    • Hello and welcome! Thank you so very much for your kind comments. It can be tough when you start a post, because I tend to be neurotic about planning I like to have an idea of what my posts are going to be at least a week out, I put the thought down on my calendar and then a few days before I really start thinking about what I’m going to write about. I find that really helps center me and get me into the nitty gritty of writing, and then theres days that I just can’t find my inspiration – those posts I put aside for a while and write about whatever is jumping around in my head, if the post sits stagnant for a little while I’ll delete it and chalk it up to ambition, sometimes they nag at me and I’ll go back to finishing them off when the flow seems right. The big key for me is making sure what I write about is really what I want to be doing at that time, If I’m not vested in the story I’ll never be able to finish the post. Hope that helps – good luck to you and send me a link to your blog I would love to read it!
