Disneyland! An Ode to the Happiest Place on Earth – part one

I don’t know if you’ve gotten the gist that I’m a total Disney nut! I mean I even give up good coffee and I’m not much more of anything than a coffee snob. So last weekend my dear friend and I made a trip down for two days, that’s right just two, I had to cram everything I wanted to do, things that usually take me 3-4 days into a little more than 48 hours. I tell you the pressure was on.

6:04 AM – I arrived at the Oakland Airport a little nervous – I have never traveled without my family (I know that sounds a little hokey) and I had never slept in a hotel room by myself (even hokier I know, I know), as I sat waiting for my friend to arrive – he was running late I got very nervous almost like a high schooler that maybe I had been stood up. And sent this photo to my mom – she even mentioned my look of fear and in all caps told me I WAS GOING TO THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH FOR FREE, I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO LOOK LIKE THAT. So I sucked it up and got happy.


Needless to say by the time we hit the hotel I was feeling very Disneyesque


10:30 we made it to the Disneyland hotel and got pre-booked into our rooms along with dropping off our luggage.

11am – we were in Disney California Adventure and on our way to feeling good!


2pm – we made a quick stop for snacks and headed back to the hotel for a nap – really I headed back to the hotel for a nap, my buddy wandered the hotel after putting his feet up for a little while.

6pm – back in the park we had dinner at one of the best restaurants – no joke! The Carthay Circle I had a pear martini in the lounge before we were taken upstairs for our meal, it was bliss – I had the biggest food high afterward, which is great for wandering around DCA. We got the Meal option for World of Color that put us in a preferred seating standing area for the awesome show. I know I’ve said it a few times but Disney definitely does it right.

I’ll post the rest a little later – the natives are restless for dinner.
