Curvy Girl Style – March Ipsy vs. Birchbox

I have been remiss lately with deciding on which beauty sample service I like better, so I thought I would take the next 5 months and decide which one “wins” more, then drop the service that’s not doing so well.
We’ll start with Ipsy since they came first in the mail

I do love Ipsy’s makeup bags – they’re always fun and a great gift item – the last few months I’ve either given them to my girls or as gifts to their friends for birthdays and such.
Nicole by OPI – on what grounds – I’d love to tell you that I actually tried this nail polish – but alas it sits and waits for Lent to be over. I did put a dab of it on my husband’s nail and I thought it looked pretty nice J
Pixi – primer – I did like this primer, it went on smooth and helped balance out my skin tone, but, it’s not an everyday for me since it does have a shimmer that gives you an almost shiny glow, and it is a little pink for my skin so if you’re even the slightest bit red or blotchy you’re going to show ten times worse in this primer.
Marvelous Moxie – get ready – I was really looking forward to trying this brand of lipstick/balm – unfortunately the color was a little off for me so it went to my oldest that has a slightly darker complexion than me.
Bombshell – Bora Boar – eye shadow – I loved this quad – It took me a little while to figure out how much to use of the pressed powder (I’ve been a Bare Escentuals girl for a long time), but it goes on easy and lasts all day, it’s definitely in my regular rotation.
So for Ipsy – two loves a maybe and one definitely no

And in this corner Birch box:

Harvey Prince – Cherie Blossom – This perfume has been a fun addition to my “sample” collection –I have worn it a few times and really liked it – almost enough to consider adding it to my regular rotation
Jergens – BB lotion – this was an added bonus this month and may tip the tables for Birch box – I’m pretty simple when it comes to lotion – especially with Steve’s petroleum allergy – but I like this one so much that I just bought the larger size!
Stilla – Lip glaze – Radiant Grape – I have to say that I was excited to get a still product in my box, I’ve heard a lot about the brand but had yet to actually try anything form them. Then I got the lip glaze and I did not think I would like this product at all, first I’m still working on using lip products aside from chap stick, and second even though it’s close to the Pantone color of the year I can’t say I thought much of it in the bottle. I do have to say this has made me a convert, the glaze goes on smooth, it does not get sticky and the color is just a hint of purple but looks very natural and sweet on my lips
Supergoop – I had not heard of this product before it shipped to me but like when you buy a new car you see it everywhere I noticed it was all over the beauty stores I frequent. Unfortunately it was a little heavy for my sensitive skin and I ended up giving it to a friend – who seems to be enjoying it immensely.
Air-repair – rescue balm– I was not a fan of this at all – it smells a lot like medicine, if that’s your thing then this is definitely for you – if not I would pass.

And for Birchbox three loves and two nos

Birchbox wins for March

What sample boxes do you get?
